Greek Transitional Surfboard Huntington Beach 1969 - 1970. We spoke to Bob 'The Greek' Bolan and he explained this surfboard to us as follows: Yes he shaped it. This was a custom made board and he felt that the fin is original to it. He knew the board was manufactured during a 6 month period between 1969 and 1970 because almost overnight surfboards went from 9 feet + to 6 feet and below. This transition happened so fast that he didn't have time to make the smaller decals. Basically the short-board revolution caught up to him so fast that all he had to work with were the giant decals such as the one on this board. He also told us that this board was made with really hard down rails but the tail went to a soft rail as a way to accommodate easier turning.
