Description

All original George Greenough chambered kneeboard shaped by George's, friend and master shaper Chris Brock. This board was made in the late 1970s in the Byron Bay, Greenough/ Brock HQ of New South Wales, Australia; where Greenough has been residing, and surfing, for the last 40+ years.

Greenough is known as the mad genius scientist of Surfboard design and shaping. His R. & D. being his own backyard of Byron, Lennox and Broken head. His love of the kneeboard legendary, he believes that the Craft keeps him closer to his wave God.

He is arguably the most influential Surfer alive. He lives in a giant wigwam with snakes in the roof, reportedly saying that if they leave him alone, he will do the same. Conversely, he doesn't feel the same way about sharks, a species that his interviews inevitably return to. Considering his penchant for surfing the worlds sharkiest waters, small wonder.

George Greenough "is Surfing", that said, anything he puts his name to has to be of his design and aesthetic. Chris Brock is the man who turns Greenough's design into the finished product. Greenough is not a manufacturer, surprisingly few of his boards exist, this being only the 3rd we have acquired.

This board: A solid specimen with obvious signs of hard use. We would give its condition a 7 out of 10. The board is all original with deck hues of greyish-green, orange and yellow, the logo is original and bright and clear. There is a leash plug and the Chris Brock transfer just above the swallow tail. The bottom shows the same color pattern with radical channels and glassed-in twin fins. Simply a piece of surfing history and a work of crafted art.

Measures: 64" L 23" W 2.5" D at rails 7" D at fins.
