Description

Lovingly restored, circa 1965, Hap Jacobs multi-logo surfboard with goldenrod yellow deck, solid 2" balsa wood center stringer, acid splash rails and bottom. New Old Stock (NOS) laminates on deck, original glassed-in fin and bottom artwork in orange flame, red, purple, yellows and black. Completed with yellow and black tail-block. This is a really beautiful board in excellent "as new" condition, with count them five exceptional Hap Jacobs logos! Measures in at a statuesque 9 feet, 11 inches long, shows minimal wear.

Widely considered one of the most influential shapers of the 20th century Hap Jacobs' surfboard shaping career spanned over 50 years. Initially Jacobs and Dale Velzy opened their joint venture (1954) as Velzy-Jacobs Surfboards, building mostly solid balsa wood surfboards with fiberglass skin. Jacobs then began experimenting with the newly invented fiberglass and foam, creating these well designed, lighter, faster boards.

In 1960 Jacobs opened his first store along Pacific Coast Highway in Hermosa Beach and introduced the iconic red-diamond logo seen on this board. This is a board that any collector would be proud to display. Measurement: (9 foot 11 inches) 119"inches long x 21.5" wide x 2.5" deep at rails x 11.5" deep at fin.
