Designed by Bjorn Ostern for David Andersen this 1960s Modernist Sterling Silver 'Ship of Good Fortune' Necklace is stunning, in excellent original condition and sold with original box.
The two piece necklace set is comprised of the sterling silver pendant with a central amazonite cabochon and its' matching, original David Anderson neck ring.
The pendant is in the form of a stylized viking ship, identified as The Ship of Good Fortune. It is marked: David-Andersen Norway Sterling 925S INV B.S.Ø.
The neck piece is marked for: D-A Norway Sterling 925S Measurements: Neck Ring Length: 7 1/4 in. Neck Ring Width: 4 1/2 in. Pendant Width: 1 3/4 in.
This Ship of Good Fortune design is one of the central pieces of the company's renowned Troll Series (Stone series), which included important works by the designers Bjørn Sigurd Østern, Marianne Berg, Harry Sørby, Unn Tangerud, Uni David-Andersen and Ben (Benedicte) David-Andersen. It's rare to find an an early example such as this in such excellent condition complete with original box!
