Original 1970s car club jacket from Laguna’s West Coast Vans crew, with bold chainstitched back, period patches, and pure California van culture energy.

Description

Straight outta Laguna and deep into 1970s SoCal van life, this original West Coast Vans club jacket captures the golden age of custom builds, late-night canyon runs, and roadside camaraderie. The back features West Coast Vans proudly chainstitched in thick black script—a detail only found on the real-deal club gear of the era.

Up front? You've got Larry and Chug-A-Lug chainstitched across the chest, flanked by a green Mopar patch, a Kansas state crest, and an Expo '74 World's Fair patch from Spokane—each one telling its own story of road trips, pride, and a life built behind the wheel.

The jacket itself is classic mechanic style: cropped canvas in a sun-faded tan, with a zip front, buttoned cuffs, and elastic across the back hem. It’s worn, well-loved, and undeniably cool.

Van culture in the 1970s was a lifestyle all its own—and jackets like this were part of the uniform. Chainstitched by hand and patched over time, this one was worn by a member of the West Coast Vans club, based in Laguna Beach, California. Whether “Chug-A-Lug” refers to an inside joke, a van name, or a personal motto, it’s part of the charm.

The patches hint at road miles and memories: a World's Fair in the Pacific Northwest, a nod to Mopar loyalty, and a Kansas connection somewhere along the way. This is a one-of-a-kind artifact from a bygone scene—rarely seen, never repeated.
