Description
A wonderfully character-filled Southwestern necklace assembled from vintage components, featuring a hollow sterling silver burro pendant strung with vintage Santo Domingo/Kewa Pueblo creamy gypsum tube beads and a few brick-red vintage European trade bead accents.
The pendant has classic regional charm — a small standing burro with dimensional form, soft surface wear, and the kind of personality that makes folk and Southwestern jewelry so appealing. The creamy tube beads add a beautiful handmade rhythm, while the brick-red trade bead accents bring a warm note of color and contrast.
The beads were acquired from an old bead-shop collection that closed in the 1970s and are identified as vintage Santo Domingo/Kewa Pueblo gypsum beads; individual maker is unknown. The necklace has been recently assembled on flexible wire and finished with a sterling silver clasp for easy wear.
At 25" long, it layers beautifully over linen, denim, chambray, black cotton, or a favorite vintage tee. Earthy, wearable, and full of quiet desert character — a Surfing Cowboys-style piece with old bead-shop history and Southwestern soul.
