A rare survivor from a legendary moment in folk music and civil rights history—this original 1964 poster promotes a benefit concert headlined by Joan Baez at the Monterey Fairgrounds on September 5, 1964. Designed by renowned cartoonist and illustrator Eldon Dedini, whose signature appears in pencil at the bottom corner, the poster was created to support Pioneer House, an interracial nursery school in Seaside, California.
In a moment that would go down in music history, Bob Dylan made a surprise appearance, joining Baez on stage in one of his earliest West Coast performances. The crowd was stunned, and the atmosphere electric—an emblem of the era’s shifting tides in music, politics, and culture.
Printed on heavy paper stock with bold red and black typography, the poster’s design is understated yet powerful—like Baez herself—channeling the grassroots energy of the early folk revival.
A stunning piece for collectors of music history, civil rights-era ephemera, or fans of Baez, Dylan, and the transformative power of song.
Dimensions: 28in. x 22in.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. Mounted on artist board and signed in pencil by Dedini. Please see photos for details.
