Great Fire of 1805 Commemorative Sterling Silver Ring sz 10.5
Description
Description
This rare and historically significant ring was created by the Detroit-based jeweler Weyhing in the early 1900s to commemorate the Great Fire of 1805. Crafted in solid sterling silver, it features a powerful depiction of two women—one mourning the devastation caused by the fire, and the other looking forward with hope and resilience to the city’s rebuilding. This imagery mirrors the central figures of Detroit’s city flag and the Latin motto: "Speramus Meliora; Resurget Cineribus”—“We hope for better things; it will rise from the ashes.”
