California artist Max Neufeldt had a studio in Venice California during the 1970s. While discussing this piece Max told us that his art during this time was motivated by the inspiration he found in vintage photographs. He would find a photograph (or two as in this case) that inspired him and build an artistic collage story based on it using bits of found objects. He also built the frame. This collage with frame measures 64 inches wide x 14.5 inches high x 1.25 inches deep. The photographs of an early turn-of-the-century family and a tree ripple out into the artwork with various tree renditions, pieces of wood, lace and more... ready for the viewers imagination to create their own story out of the bits and pieces.
