George Nelson was an American industrial designer, he is credited as being one of the founders of American Modernism. In his role as Director of Design for the Herman Miller furniture company, Nelson and his design studio, George Nelson Associates, Inc., designed much of the 20th century's most iconic modernist furniture. Although created for everyday functional use his designs introduced a fresh perspective to furniture and furnishing and can now be found in museums and private collections around the world. While there are new releases and many imitations on the marketplace original vintage pieces in good condition are highly sought after and cherished by collectors and regular folk alike.
