Smirnoff World Pro Am Surf Competition Poster, Hawaii 1970 Original vintage poster in excellent condition. A wonderful slice of 1970s Surf Art, featuring amazing psychedelic and flower power symbolism. Design details include a sun-goddess girl lounging on the beach with sun and stars surrounding her, the surfing hero is a winged adonis who cuts through waves and wonder.
This poster is in original vintage condition, the colors are bright and vibrant, the paper exhibits brown flecks as is consistent with age. Professionally framed and matted in wood frame with glass. In 1970 this Makaha based surf competition offered the all-time high winners purse of $1500. Australian Nat Young was the winner. In those politically incorrect days of the 1970s when surfing and booze went hand in hand, cigarette and alcohol companies tied themselves from the hip (or leash) to competitive sports - thus this competition was sponsored by Smirnoff Vodka.
