Original 1940s Tom Blake Breaker Board Paddleboard; one of the first production short boards created for standing on. This Tom Blake creation, is a five foot long board with a nose-rocker, it was created to ride the breakers. Promoted to children, and those who chose to partake in waterspots closer to shore then the standard paddleboard surfer. The Breaker Board utilized many of the Tom Blake hollow paddleboard principals and construction techniques but on a smaller scale. This board is varnished marine plywood with mahogany rails, it shows authentic wear from age and use. Very few of these boards survived as they often became water-logged. The weight and size of this board make it ideal for display and would make a fabulous addition to any vintage surf collection.
