Description

This five foot long board with a nose-rocker was made in the early 1940s and is one of the first production short boards created for standing on. Designed and manufactured by Tom Blake, the Breaker Board utilized many of the Tom Blake hollow paddle-board principals and construction techniques but on a smaller scale. It was promoted to children and adults who chose to partake in water spots closer to shore then the standard paddle-board surfer. It's weight and size make it ideal for display and its rarity makes it a fabulous addition to any vintage surf collection.

Very few of these boards survived as they are hollow and often became water-logged with heavy use (by friends and family members in addition to the owner) and often outdoor storage.

Made of varnished marine plywood with mahogany rails and an interior skeleton frame this board has a gentle patina, showing beautiful authentic wear from age and use.

Length: 5 feet 10 inches x Width: 16 inches x depth: 3 3/4 inches
