Rare, all original belly-board from the early 1950s. Boards like this tell their own story. Often handmade by the person that rode them, they can give a clear indication of their owner. This board is expertly constructed of balsa wood, it has a redwood stringer and redwood tail block. The process of gluing woods together is relatively simple but then comes the hard part, shaping the craft into a ridable board using hand tools. The fin is then glued on and the whole board is covered in fiberglass. Finally the board is coated in resin, giving it both strength and waterproofing. In the case of this board we have the added touch of a business card which states that "Richard David Wise" is the proud owner of this beautiful craft! It is a clean spirited and beautiful piece of surf history. A treasure.
Meaures: 51" long x 19" wide x 2" deep at rail x 8" deep at fin
